We’re proud to support the veterinary community with high-quality, thoughtful diagnostics and a collaborative approach to patient care.

Why SVP?

At SVP, we treat every sample as an extension of the patient, and every team member as a vital part of our mission. If you’re seeking meaningful work with a fun, kind, and sharp team, we’d love to hear from you. We offer competitive pay, opportunities to grow, and a work culture that values honesty, curiosity, and collaboration.

Specialty Vetpath Mission

To build collaborative relationships grounded in a shared love and respect for all animals, an appreciation of the interconnected nature of life, and a desire for deeper understanding.

Specialty Vetpath Values

We are engaged. We treat samples as an extension of the patient and approach our role as members of the clinical team. Our clients, and the samples of their patients, are treated with respect and gratitude. We seek to build mutually beneficial relationships within our organization, with our clients, with our vendors, and with our community.
We are problem-solvers. We identify problems, ask questions, own our part, and look for real solutions - practical, efficient, proactive, and effective. We get creative, utilize our collective intelligence, innovate: we are positive deviants!
We strive for continuous improvement. We realize that this requires openness to change, and that without change there is no growth. We know perfection is unattainable, sort of like infinity - we can’t reach it, yet in the process of continually improving, we can approach it and take great pride in what we do.
We communicate openly and with integrity. We show up as the best versions of ourselves, and we trust that others on our team will do the same. We have hard conversations about tough subjects because they make us a stronger team, and help us be better humans.
We are stewards. We strive to create an environment - locally and globally, physically, emotionally, and metaphysically - that promotes the health and well being of all stakeholders - SVP, our clients, our vendors, our community, all the large and small creatures, and the planet we live on.

About
Specialty Vetpath

Specialty Vetpath was founded in 2009 by Dr. Jennifer Ward and her husband Rod Vos. They started out by turning their basement into a pathology laboratory, and when they outgrew the home lab model, moved first into a shared space in a local specialty hospital, and then in 2014, to our current location in the Interbay neighborhood of Seattle.

In 2023, our long-time associate Dr. Laura Black became a partner. Specialty Vetpath’s rebranding coincides with the initiation of this new partnership, with a new logo that captures the essence of our relationship-based approach to the practice of pathology. The three circles of our logo represent: 1) the pathology laboratory; 2) the veterinary clinic; and 3) the patient and their family.
